SEO Firms Have to Deal with Google’s 2011 Algorithm Change

SEO firms have to deal with Google’s Algorithm change this month, and it is big. It has had a huge impact on major sites like CNN.com, Mahalo.com, EHow.com, and a host of others. Perhaps more importantly, it has had a huge impact on small business sites.  Mahalo.com even laid off 10 percent of its work force this week, according to an article by CNN.com. So, what do SEO experts needs to know about the change in the algorithm?

The big losers in the war to own the top entry on any Google search is the so called “content farm” website.  You can almost always spot a content farm website by the poor quality articles they have, or the large amount of ads to spin up.  Often, keywords for the website are dished out at a rate of 10 to 15% keyword density rate.

Often, these content farms work like eHow.com, where to can find an article or video on “how to do anything.”  Now, there are certainly lot’s of good quality videos and articles to be found on the Internet, but many of these articles are poorly written, and offer no real insight into the issue. Also, videos are less than informative.

So, lest I be seen as a content junkee, I want to talk for a moment about what you need to do. Articles on your website will need to still have keywords, but you had better stick to a rate of no more than 3% keyword density. Keyword Density can be determined by counting the total number of words in all uses of your keywords or phrases, then dividing that number into the total number of words in the article.  You need to keep the keyword in titles, the first 50 or so words, and the final paragraph also.

In addition, you need to get content that is more scholarly in nature. Site references whenever possible. In addition, you can offer criticism of other articles on the same subject. So, in many instances, you need to pretent you are writing term papers for college. That type of informative article will get you going again.

SEO firms have to deal with Google’s 2011 Algorithm change to stay in business. On the same note, so will your website SEO efforts. Offering your readership to contact you to get additional seo expertise is wonderful! So many small companies have struggled since the changes with google’s algorithm, I’m sure any help is greatly appreciated. I may need to reach out to your group of seo experts myself to help with my blog.

I have taken your advice and began utilizing more scholarly content that still includes search engine optimization. I will definitely keep in mind the ratio of keywords you mentioned!

10 to 15% key word density? All that is is an article for the search engine. This is the opposite of trying to draw the consumer to your site. With that kindof key word density for search engine optimization, that article is written just for the bots to pick up. They have certainly taken it too far.
